Follow these simple steps to create your free Gemini API key. Anyone can do it — you don't need to be a developer or have any technical knowledge. Just follow along and you'll be ready in no time!
Go to Google AI Studio, Google's free platform for accessing Gemini AI. This is where you'll create and manage your API key.
Open Google AI StudioClick on "Create API Key" button. If prompted, you'll need to create a new Google Cloud project. Don't worry — this is completely free and just takes a few clicks.
When the Google Cloud Console opens, simply give your project a name (like "AIMode" or anything you prefer) and click "Create".
After creating your project in Google Cloud, return to Google AI Studio. Your new project should now be available in the project selector.
Go to API Keys PageSelect the project you just created from the dropdown menu. Then click "Create API Key in new project" or "Create API Key" if your project is already selected.
Your API key will be generated instantly!
Click the copy button next to your newly created API key. This key is your personal access to Gemini AI — keep it safe and don't share it publicly.
Open the AIMode extension popup by clicking its icon in your browser toolbar. Go to the Settings tab, find the "API Key" section, and paste your key there.
That's it! You're now ready to use AIMode with unlimited free AI queries!
